Adult Programming
We strongly believe that skiing should be an enjoyable family sport that everyone can partake in together. With this important philosophy in mind, we have thoughtfully designed a few effective strategies and programs to help adults get out, feel confident, and truly enjoy their time on the trails!
Join us for Momentum Northwest’s Inaugural Master’s Training Groups
Momentum Northwest Inaugural Master Program
Purpose:
To support the Seattle Nordic Ski Community by offering 1 day per week cross-country ski programming for adults. Masters programming enables adult skiers to hone their skills and experience the sport in even more ways, while also providing an opportunity to meet other Nordic skiers.
Who is a Master?
In the world of Nordic skiing, one becomes a “Master” sometimes around the age of thirty. This is a product of cross-country skiing’s racing culture where athletes ascend from youth to junior and then senior to master categories. However, for this program, if you are over the age of 20 and are interested in improving your skills, this is the group for you.
What will Master’s training look like?
Master’s training will be a mix of technique instruction and group skiing. One can expect each session to offer a ski specific technique lesson as well as just skiing. The typical flow will be warm-up -> lesson -> ski. Skiing in a group allows time to chat and model the good parts of fellow skiers and instructors’ technique. There will be plenty of time to break-out and ask instructors questions on specific ways to improve.
Recommended Ability
This season, we recommend a self-described intermediate level ability. Skiers should be comfortable on skis, and able to ascend and descend most hills. Skiers may be self-taught, or may have taken lessons in the past, and wish for further instruction to improve existing abilities.
Racing?
Although racing is a secondary motivation for many Masters skiers, interest in racing is not required for MNW Masters. However, if you would like to race, the Momentum NW Junior program is extremely active in racing across the state of WA and MNW Masters skiers will receive support from MNW staff at Cabin Creek races. You will also have access to MNW Coaches’ recommendations for ski preparation.

Programs will begin the week of Monday, December 8th if snow allows and run until the winter grooming schedule ends in the middle of March. We will take a two-week break for the holidays. There will be three time-slots participants can register for.
